LaFayette, GA (August 16, 2017) – Walker County Sole Commissioner Shannon Whitfield announced plans today to update the county’s fire fee schedule to offer improvements in fire protection and public safety efforts. The fee will now be known as a “public safety” fee and will fund fire and emergency management operations, along with contracted ambulance services.

In addition, water use restrictions remain in effect for all City of LaFayette and WCWSA customers. 
LaFayette, GA - As a precaution, a boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice for certain areas of Walker County. On June 29, a routine inspection of the Walker County Water Treatment plant resulted in a positive E. coli sample from a source well, prior to treatment.
LaFayette, GA – Walker County Sole Commissioner Shannon Whitfield signed a resolution today to borrow $4 million through a Tax Anticipation Note (TAN) from First Volunteer Bank of LaFayette.

GE sells its Applicance Division including its LaFayette plant, Roper
General Electric said Monday that it is backing out of a plan to sell its appliance division to Electrolux for $3.3 billion. 
Walker County Governing Authority announces its intention to increase the property taxes of the 2015 levy.
WC Commissioner has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property tax.
Judge gives Walker County and the Walker County Development Authority the "all clear" to proceed with an upcoming bond issue.
