NORTHERN GEORGIA LOGISTICS IS PLANNING A NEW EXPANSION ...

A COUPLE OF WALKER COUNTY INDUSTRIES HAVE RUN OUT OF WAREHOUSE SPACE… SO NORTHERN GEORGIA LOGISTICS IS PLANNING A NEW EXPANSION TO HELP FILL THE NEED.

LAST WEEK, RAW MATERIAL SUPPLIERS TO AUDIA INTERNATIONAL, FROM ISRAEL, VISITED THE COUNTY.   THEY WANT TO WORK WITH THE LOGISTICS FIRM SO THEY CAN SUPPLY AUDIA WITH “JUST IN TIME” DELIVERY.

LOGISTICS’ PROPOSED EXPANSION INCLUDES A FIRST PHASE 120-THOUSAND SQUARE FOOT WAREHOUSE… WHICH WAS DISCUSSED THIS WEEK BY THE WALKER COUNTY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY.

DIRECTOR LARRY BROOKS SAID LOGISTICS CURRENTLY HAS THREE SITES IN WALKER… IN THE ROCK SPRING INDUSTRIAL PARK, NEAR THE COUNTY BARN AT CHICKAMAUGA… AND RENTED SQUARE FOOTAGE IN THE EUCLID CHEMICAL PLANT AT LAFAYETTE.

ANOTHER LAFAYETTE PLANT, UNIQUE FABRICATION, HAS ALREADY RUN OUT OF SPACE IN THEIR WAREHOUSE ON MCCARTER ROAD… WHICH WAS JUST FINISHED LAST YEAR.   THEY ARE ALSO WORKING WITH LOGISTICS FOR MORE WAREHOUSE CAPACITY.

AND BROOKS SAID NISSIN BRAKE IN ROCK SPRING IS GETTING READY FOR ANOTHER EXPANSION THIS FALL.   THEY’RE EXTENDING THEIR FOUNDRY OPERATION BECAUSE OF A NEW CONTRACT TO SUPPLY BRAKES TO AUTO MAKER SUBARU.   THAT’S EXPECTED TO BE A 20 TO 30-THOUSAND SQUARE FOOT EXPANSION… WITH NEW JOBS TO BOOT.
