Assessment notices are now sent every year, following a change in state law. These are notices only, they are not bills. 1,505 notices for personal property were issued on May 22, 2017. July 6th is the last day to file an appeal. 32,779 notices for real property were issued on June 1, 2017. July 17th is the last day to file an appeal.

An appeal can be made in writing one of three ways: 1) Board of Equalization 2) Arbitration 3) Hearing Office

We are located on the second floor of the Walker County Local Government Services building, 122 Highway 95 in Rock Spring.

PUBLIC NOTICE:
You are hereby notified (and should communicate this notification to any other occupants of your property) that pursuant to O.C.GA 48-5-264.1 (a), representatives of the Walker County Assessor’s Office, with proper I.D., may enter upon your property outside of buildings during normal business hours, posted or not, with reasonable notice; for the purposes of collecting accurate data or any verifications thereof due to any permits issued, taxpayer returns of real property, revaluations (partial or whole), parcel sales, covenants, land splits, 3 year review and appeal reviews. This includes all residential properties, and manufactured housing, commercial and industrial properties. Contact our office is you have any questions. Please consider this your reasonable notice.
