The acquisition of McLemore’s Cove through a partnership between the State of Georgia and Walker County consists of 1,565 acres of land that includes the ridge, slopes and bottomland of the cove. It is permanently protected through this purchase by Georgia's Department of Natural Resources.
Walker County controls the portion of the cove known as Mountain Cove Farms consisting of the manor house and other structures including barns, cabins, and a country store.
The county has been working on restoration efforts of some of the structures including what is known as the show barn. The show barn has been refurbished to accommodate weddings and other events.
There is also a guest house that can sleep 16 people. It includes a master honeymoon suite, a working fireplace, patio and game room.
The guest house can be rented as a weekend getaway or can accommodate group excursions.
If you are interested in additional information about Mountain Cove Farms or would like to book any portion of the Mountain Cove Farm facilities please call the Commissioner's office at 706-638-1437.
